Do you ever just go there? To that place where you really are not overly excited for the day, but you also are not dreading it? Where you are just “bleh”? Skies are grey but not stormy? Too warm to build a fire in the fireplace and yet too cold to open the windows?
Well, here are two unconventional things to do that just might get you a-smiling, or a-giggling, or just lifting your eyebrows a little higher.
1) Look up a limerick, then try to write one of your own.
2) Google “clever voicemail recordings,” then create a new one for your phone. Gail did not record a new message, but she did write a limerick.
There was an old teacher from Idaho. Who stepped her foot down on a garden hoe. It popped up and smacked her! She thought it did crack her, From her head clear on down to her tippy-toe!
Falling or Springing into Self-Care
The seasons are changing. In the northern hemisphere, it is getting cooler and the sweaters and cuddle blankets are coming out. In the southern hemisphere it is warming up and the sweaters are getting tucked away.
Regardless of where you live and what you are wearing, one of the loveliest things you can do for yourself is to set aside some time each week to read a book that you enjoy. Read for pleasure. You might have to put it on your schedule and call it “Self-Care.’
If it is cold, snuggle up in your comfiest hoodie, Jammies, and socks, and read for an hour or so. If it is warm, go outside and read in the sunlight. If you have a hectic day, turn the screens off early and read before bed.
Whenever it is that you are going to read, protect that time, keep it just for you. Your heart and soul will thank you.
