Increased VEGF‑C and Macrophages in Lipedema

  • Today I’d like to tell you about a paper by a group of researchers from Germany, Finland, and Switzerland, led by Gunther Felmerer of Germany.
  • The paper is called: Increased levels of VEGF‑C and macrophage infiltration in lipedema patients without changes in lymphatic vascular morphology.
  • It was published in the peer-reviewed journal Scientific Reports in July 2020.
  • The aim of this study was to examine and describe the tissue and lymphatic vascular involvement in lipedema.
    This study provides another piece to the puzzle of lipedema.
