Hello, I live in CA. Can you please refer me to a treatment center out here? I believe I’m in the early stages, I have ALL of the symptoms. I’m a little scared and self conscious, but also excited that there might be a treatment.
Hello Erika,
There are 2 doctors in CA that I know of who treat lipedema.
Dr. Jay Granzow in Manhattan Beach – http://www.plasticsurgery.la/
Dr. David Amron in Beverly Hills – http://www.amronmd.com/procedures/surgical/lipedema/
I hope that helps.
Good luck, let us know how it all goes.
Best,
Catherine
I’m trying to find out which lipo is best for Lipedema. I know it should be tumescent with a power-assisted micro-cannula, but Is the water-assisted lipo the safest on the lymph system and will the laser lipo destroy the lymphatic tissues and make the lipedema worse by turning it into lipo-lymphedema? I can’t let a plastic surgeon who’s never heard of lipedema make this decision. I would be most grateful if you could answer my questions. Thank you.
Hi Ilana,
Since many women have had different liposuction successfully, I think it’s more the skill of the surgeon than the particular technique, and the knowledge that they have of lipedema. Since lipedema is so little known as a disorder, most doctors and surgeons don’t know of it, let alone how to treat it. I have personally seen great results with tumescent with vibrating micro cannula with several doctors in Germany and also great results with water-assisted jet liposuction, both in Germany and here in the US. As you state, I too have been to numerous docs and surgeons who didn’t have knowledge of lipedema, and initially experienced mis-diagnosis and resulting very dire complications and damage to my lymph system. I learned to be sure that the doctor and surgeon is familiar with lipedema.
Best, Catherine
I live near Detroit, Michigan. Do you know of physicians near me?
There are few and far between doctors who know about lipedema. We are working on increasing the help available from healthcare professionals.
Best,
Catherine
