Magnesium Supplementation on a Ketogenic Way of Eating
- The ketogenic way of eating helps with inflammation but also washes magnesium out which causes muscle cramping, twitching, or restless legs at night.
- Magnesium is needed to help muscles relax. Low magnesium levels can cause painful charley horse leg cramping during muscle contraction.
- Normally, we must consume 3,500-4,500 mg of magnesium per day to avoid symptoms.
- If you’re on a ketogenic way of eating, replace your lost magnesium, and check with your doctor about the best magnesium supplements to use.
